Final thoughts on Mockingjay..

So I did finish Mockingjay! And graduated college! Woot woot!

So for all my friends that didn’t like how it ended or just didn’t like Mockingjay, I can understand. But, I wont say I didn’t like it. It seemed like I would never finish, but I was in the middle of graduation stuff, finals, projects etc. The ended seemed rushed, but I am happy that Peeta ended up with Katniss! Even though I figured that’s the way it would end, part of me was afraid something else would happen.

The biggest disappointment was how the ending was rushed, I have felt that way with other series. The reason I loved Peeta so much was because of how Collins potrayed him as such a caring person in contrast to Katniss. Mockinjay seemed to have such detailed chapters but unfortunately not enough in the final chapter. I know that in the end, you can’t write so much but after Peeta losing his memory I seemed to have lost the same feelings for his character. So I just think she should have built it back up.

That’s about it. I kinda just wanted to be done with it but was pretty please with the end. Although with most books especially series, I was sad when I was done!

I’m now reading Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult! And it’s pretty good so far :)

So..

since I have yet finish Mockinjay (getting there tho!), I thought I would rant about something I didn’t really think too much about until a friend brought it up.

Btw, I’m at the part where Peeta just arrived to take place of a fallen soldier and Katniss is …thrilled. Lol.

So my friend finished the book already, and she said she was upset with the ending. I’ll see when I get there. Lol. Anyways, she was also pretty upset about Peeta’s memory loss. She, like many people I can imagine, went through a situation where the one she loved and was engaged to, caught a sickness which sprialed into a induced coma to stop the uncontrollable seizures. Of course this took a toll on his memory. The years of medications for epilepsy (including Topamax which causes cognitive slowing!), hopitializations, etc., it has affected his memory tremendously. So my friend will never get to sit down and talk about the past, what happened between them or get closure. It’s been 10 years of wondering, what might have been.

So of course she related in some ways to Katniss and Peeta. But from where I am in the book, Peeta seemed to be getting better..I’ll find out..

Just thought I’d share that. There are people out there who have experienced a family, friend, lover, that has gone through memory loss so I’m sure they related as they read Mockingjay like my friend did.

I did too, my friend’s loved one is my older brother.
